The primary purpose of a study permit is to regulate the entry and stay of international students in Canada. It ensures that individuals coming to study are eligible, enrolled in a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and abide by the rules and regulations governing international students.
A study permit is not a visa. It doesn’t let you enter Canada. You may also need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA) to enter Canada. When study permit application is approved a visa will be issued with your study permit.
